DO YOU WANT TO BE A WILDCAT CHEERLEADER?
Information
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TO BE TRYOUT READY!
Eighth Graders (soon to be Wildcats), Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors are eligible to tryout for our Gold and Blue team!

You must have satisfactory school attendance.

You must have at least a 2.5 GPA
All paperwork must be completed and turned in by the stated due date or you will be ineligible to tryout.
NO Exceptions!

Complete TWO tryout packets. The athletic packet & an up to date current physical needs to be turned into the Main Office before clinics and tryouts. The cheer tryout packet needs to be turned into Coach Jasmyne at clinics or no later than the first day of tryouts (March 26th)

Fill out and return the application/contract – do not forget the questions.
Cheerleaders will tryout in groups of 3 or 4 and will be given a number the first day of tryouts that they will keep until the final tryout day.
Monday) March 26th
You will be learning cheer jumps, a cheer, and an advanced dance.
Tuesday) March 27th
Go over & review material
Wednesday) March 28th
Final tryout day.
You will perform the following in groups of 3 or 4:

Rally on and off!

Perform any tumbling, if applicable

Fliers demonstrate all flexible body positions
-
Perform Jumps
-
Perform cheer
-
Perform dance
-
Answer Interview Question(s)
You will be judged during tryouts on the following categories:

Tryout cheer

Tryout dance
-
Jumps
-
Tumbling
-
Voice
-
Showmanship
-
Flexibility
-
Your response to a question
-
Overall impression
Some important things the judges will consider are:
-
facial expression
-
confidence
-
technique
-
sharpness of moves
-
voice
-
jumps
Athletes will tryout only in front of the judges. No parents or friends will be allowed to watch the tryouts.
Each candidate’s score will be calculated and averaged. The coaching staff has the final say on which candidates are chosen for which teams.
Results will be posted no later than an hour after the last group of tryouts on Wednesday, so be sure to stick around!

Teams
We have two teams that athletes can tryout for. West Seattle Gold and West Seattle Blue. Both teams are Varsity leveled teams and athletes can choose to tryout for both teams and make both teams, if applicable.

West Seattle Gold, our elite competition team

West Seattle Blue, our all year spirit team that cheers at all football & basketball games.
Not too sure what team to tryout for? Don't limit yourself, tryout for both!


NO CHEER EXPERIENCE? NO PROBLEM!
COME TO OUR CHEER CLINICS TO HELP PREPARE YOU FOR TRYOUTS!
MARCH 21ST

Come to our open cheer clinic on Wednesday, March 21st! We will be teaching a basic cheer, dance, and jump essentials in order for you to succeed and be ready for tryouts the following week!
Make sure you have all athletic paperwork & an up to date physical in order to participate!
Mandatory Parent Meeting
MARCH 23RD
Please join us at the parent meeting on Friday, March 23rd! We will be discussing all the information that is applicable if you make the team! This includes pricing, expectations, important dates and many more!
If your parent is unable to make it, please have your athlete who will be trying out be your representative to pass on the information that is given!
